Dr Rachel Hannam

Rachel is our Clinical Director and supervises our early career therapists at North Brisbane Psychologists. As such, she has a small caseload and is currently unable to accept new clients. Rachel has been a registered psychologist since 2002. She consulted to organisations for years, working with doctors, nurses, teachers, pilots, lawyers, and executives, coaching individuals and groups. She is skilled at helping people with stress and trauma, interpersonal conflict, and personal change. In 2006, Rachel was awarded her PhD on the topic of psychological burnout and resilience. She uses cognitive behaviour therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, schema mode therapy, the Gottman Method, interpersonal therapy, emotion-focussed therapy and nonviolent communication (NVC) methods.


Adele O’Hare

Adele is a warm, intuitive psychologist. Adele works with adults, perinatal clients, adolescents, and children. She can help with depression and low mood, anxiety and stress, grief and loss, trauma, and relationship difficulties. She takes a neurodiversity-affirming approach to supporting people with ASD and ADHD. Her therapy style is attachment-based, inclusive, and trauma-informed. Adele has supervised practice in the intensive Circle of Security Parenting and Intervention. As a Climate Aware Practitioner, Adele is able to hold space with courage and compassion for people experiencing climate change-related distress. She uses emotion-focused and compassion-focused therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, interpersonal psychotherapy, mentalisation interventions, mindfulness-based CBT, and psychodynamic psychotherapy.


Kate Ryan

Kate is a fully registered psychologist with Honours and a Masters in Educational and Developmental Psychology.  Kate is a warm, compassionate and genuine practitioner. She works with adolescents and adults. Her focus is on inclusivity and humour to make her clients feel at ease. Kate sees people who need help with eating disorders, adjustment and personality disorders, ASD and ADHD, anxiety and panic, stress and depression, grief and loss, addiction, and PTSD. Kate is informed by a health at any size (HAES) approach and is trauma-informed and attachment focused. She uses compassion-focussed therapy (CFT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and schema mode therapy to help her clients create better lives and states of mind. She also draws from CBT-E (enhanced cognitive behaviour therapy) and family-based treatment (FBT). 


James Woodhouse

James works with clients 12 years and over and is passionate about ensuring each person has the resources and skills to manage their mental health. He recognises that each person is different and his approach is to co-create personalised strategies for his clients. James works with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, addiction, motivation issues, relationship conflict and other areas of psychological distress. He is also equipped to work on performance enhancement in areas such as sport, business, music, and performing arts. His approach draws from a wide variety of evidence-based modalities, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), and Neuroscience-informed Practice.


Jake Mulready

Jake completed his Master of Psychology (Counselling) at the University of Queensland, where he also completed his Bachelor of Psychological Science. He works with adolescents and adults and has a very warm personality. Jake supports a range clients with various of life difficulties, including grief and loss, trauma, anxiety, depression, body image concerns, addiction, ASD and ADHD, and relationship/family difficulties. Jake is passionate about creating a safe haven for clients as they tackle their hardship, and empowering them to work through it. Jake has an integrative approach to doing therapy, guided by his skills in Compassion-Focussed Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), schema therapy, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Solution-Focussed Therapy (SFT).


Tariro Sibanda

Tariro is a warm and compassionate Psychologist who is passionate about building rapport and trust with her clients. She sees clients from ages 7 years and over. She enjoys collaborating with her clients to see different perspectives and find creative solutions to their issues. Tariro is a gentle therapist and is skilled at helping individuals with anxiety, trauma, depression, stress and burnout, grief and loss and adjustment. She draws from several evidence-based therapies and regularly engages in professional development to ensure her practice remains current.  She uses cognitive-behaviour therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, psycho-education, supportive psychotherapy, and mindfulness-based techniques. She focuses on helping her clients improve their quality of life and achieve lasting changes. Tariro is fluent in four languages.


Nathaniel Wells

Nathaniel is a process-focused, empathetic Psychologist with a passion for wellbeing. He is passionate about helping people recognise their worth. Nathaniel also doesn’t shy away from using a little (or a lot) of humour along the way. He sees clients from age 10 years and over. He has experience with people of diverse backgrounds and concerns, including trauma, grief and loss, depression, anxiety, gender identity, and many others. Above all, he believes in seeing the client first and the label second. Nathaniel primarily utilises mindfulness-based and person-centred Psychotherapies, often employing techniques of Acceptance-Commitment Therapy (ACT), Metacognitive Therapy (MCT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). He also has knowledge of solution-focussed therapy, Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).


Michelle Janssen

Michelle sees couples and individuals. She is a skilled Counsellor and Relationship Therapist. Michelle is a member of the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA). She is not eligible for Medicare rebates. Michelle is gentle, goal-oriented, and draws upon her array of personal and professional experiences to hold space for clients. Michelle utilises a variety of modalities, and adjusts to her client’s needs. Michelle operates using a trauma-informed and strengths based framework, often utilising Attachment Theory to help contexualise clients’ experiences. She is able to integrate creative and expressive interventions, CBT, ACT and somatic work. Michelle is dynamic in being able to apply practical interventions, whilst also allowing space for deeper questioning of an existential nature, reflection and mindfulness.


Zoe Maloney

Zoe is a warm-hearted and curious counsellor. She is a provisionally registered psychologist with experience counselling young people struggling with a range of issues, including school stress and bullying, anger management, bullying, ASD and ADHD, grief, disordered eating, anxiety, depression, low motivation, and family problems. She is currently doing her Masters in Clinical Psychology. Zoe works with children 5 years and over, and adolescents. She adopts a client-centred approach and draws from evidence-based therapies, including Play Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Emotion-Focussed Therapy (EFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Samantha Weir

Samantha is a client-focussed couples therapist who also sees individuals. She uses a variety of modalities to help individuals and couples through a range of challenges. She has a lovely manner and excellent communication skills. She works across the lifespan including teens (aged 13+) and adults experiencing mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life adjustments, self esteem problems, or clients simply wanting further support. In her couples therapy work, she draws on the Gottman Method to help direct and support better relationship outcomes. This includes a thorough assessment of the couple’s relationship and integrates research-based interventions. Samantha integrates modern Cognitive Behaviour Therapies (CBT) with Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, helping clients to make the unconscious conscious to enhance self-awareness.


Freya Browne

Freya is a warm and friendly counsellor with a non-judgmental approach. She is passionate about supporting people reach their goals. Using the Gottman Method and needs-based approaches, Freya works with couples and families seeking support for distress. Freya has a background in domestic violence and understands the complexities of the cycles of violence and trauma bonds. Freya also sees individuals for a range of issues, including family stress and parenting, sexual assault recovery, depression and anxiety, PTSD, drug harm minimisation and withdrawal, mental illnesses including schizophrenia, BPD and mood disorders. Freya takes a compassionate approach with her clients and is empathetic. She encourages independence and personal growth in small achievable steps.


Kierra Wilkinson

Kierra is a friendly counsellor who works with children, teenagers, and adults. Kierra has qualifications in Youth Ministry as well as Human Resources, and is finishing her Graduate Diploma of Counselling and Psychology degree. Being a mum herself, Kierra is interested in supporting parents through pregnancy and the challenges of child-rearing. In her current University studies, she is majoring in child development, effective parenting, and conflict resolution. Kierra is a client-focussed and curious practitioner. She uses cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and play- and art-based techniques for younger or shy clients who need a little help warming up. Not currently being eligible for rebates, Kierra’s standard fee is the same as our other counsellors of $110 per hour.


Tina Chatterjee

Tina is a warm-hearted Psychologist who applies her understanding of how people think and behave to help them solve their problems, practice self-acceptance, and become happier and more empowered. She has worked in both private practice and community-based organisations with clients from a variety of backgrounds, including aged-care residents, indigenous clients, and young people in alternative schooling. She helps people with relationship issues, trauma and PTSD, suicidal ideation and self-harm, depression, anxiety, grief and adjustment issues using a range of therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psycho-education, Motivational Interviewing, Skills Training, and Solution-Focussed Brief therapy. Rebecca Haubner

Rebecca has training and experience in the treatment of eating disorders and body image concerns from a Health at Every Size (HAES) perspective, and is passionate about supporting individuals who struggle with self-criticism to cultivate a more compassionate relationship with themselves. Rebecca draws from several evidence-based frameworks including CBT, ACT, compassion-focussed therapy, and family-based therapies.


Lachlan Murray

Lachlan is a warm and friendly Psychologist with a compassionate and gentle approach toward his clients. He is able to put them at ease with his curious and empathetic manner. He will accept you and not judge you. Lachlan blends different therapies to apply the most appropriate approach for each client. He has training in ACT and CBT and is currently studying the Gottman Method as well as DBT and ISTDP. He can help clients with depression, anxiety, stress, low motivation, goal setting, self-esteem, grief and loss, panic, and personality disorders. His Masters research explored the emotional experiences of frontline social workers during the Covid-19 pandemic. Lachlan sees individual clients 10 years and over.

Anne-Marie is a compassionate psychologist who takes the time to listen and understand each individual’s unique challenges and goals and tailors her approach. To do this, Anne-Marie draws from various evidence-based therapeutic techniques such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and also Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT).

Dr Jason Wessel

Jason can help adults and adolescents with anxiety, depression, sleep, purpose, motivation, weight-loss, career challenges, stress, setting boundaries, and work-life balance. Jason began practicing counselling in 2010 in suicide intervention and vocational rehabilitation, has worked in several sleep laboratories, and was previously responsible for leadership and executive coaching in a team of psychologists.
