PLEASE NOTE: As Clinical Director, Rachel spends much of her time supervising her early-career colleagues at NBP. Currently, she only offers specialist professional coaching to new clients (Medicare rebates do not apply).
Dr Rachel has been a registered psychologist since 2002. She is a Board-approved Supervisor with AHPRA and is currently studying for her Masters in Gestalt Therapy in Brisbane. For years, Rachel has consulted with small and large organisations, working with doctors, nurses, psychologists, teachers, scientists, pilots, lawyers, architects, middle managers and executives, gaining broad experience facilitating and coaching individuals and groups. She is skilled at helping people cope with anxiety, stress and trauma, relationship conflict, and change. In 2006, she was awarded her PhD which focussed on professional burnout.
Prior to becoming a psychologist, Rachel was a research assistant at the University of Queensland, a school teacher, and a weight-loss counsellor. She loves psychology quite simply because she loves people. Helping individuals, couples and groups feels like the best use of her talents. She is a self-confessed Psychology Nerd who is passionate about personal growth. She is an avid reader. Rachel and her husband have four kids collectively and some skittish chooks.
Rachel helps you understand yourself and others in new ways and offers techniques that draw on attachment theory, neuro-psychotherapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), compassion focussed therapy (CFT), positive psychology, schema therapy, internal family systems (IFS), emotion-focussed couples therapy (EFCT), The Gottman Method, and nonviolent communication (NVC).
Rachel helps you increase awareness of what triggers you, what drives you, and what holds you back. She is warm and relaxed and uses humour and questioning to help you to reclaim your power and take responsibility for your life.
In addition to private practice, Rachel works with Brisbane Workplace Mediations where she helps people transform conflict into connection.
