Sharna is a genuine, experienced therapist, who isn’t afraid of having a chuckle with her clients. She works with people aged from 16 years through to adults. She understands how hard it can be to reach out for professional help, particularly if you have previously experienced difficulties getting your emotional needs met in a safe, supported way. For this reason, she works hard to ensure that the space is comfortable, and you walk away feeling heard.
Sharna commenced work in forensic settings in 2013, and has worked in private practice settings providing individual therapy since 2019. She has a particular interest in work with complex trauma (in particular, childhood physical, psychological and sexual abuse). She is also experienced working with difficulties such as: grief, family conflict, relationship difficulties (including domestic and family violence), anxiety, and mood disorders.
Sharna has a warm, client-centred, and trauma-informed approach. She uses attachment-based therapies, and is also trained in Eye-Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), with a preference for this modality of treatment from a client-centred perspective, utilising parts work.
In her spare time, Sharna likes to spend time with her family, cook, and keep active.
