Benjamin is a compassionate therapist with extensive experience supporting children aged 10 + and adults with trauma, anger management, ADHD, addictions, sex, relationship and parenting concerns, work stress, anxiety, depression, insecurity and feelings of hopelessness or disconnection. Benjamin has extensive experience working with LGBTIQASB+ persons, supporting them to navigate questions relating to identity, self-worth, sexuality and relationships. He also supports couples to survive and thrive using the world renowned evidence-based Gottman Method.
Benjamin takes a person-centred approach, grounded in the belief that people are the experts in their own lives and that therapy is a space where this expertise can be understood, strengthened, and put into action. He draws on a range of evidence-based therapies, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Attachment Theory, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Schema Therapy, Brief Solution-Focused Therapy, Mindful Self-Compassion and the Good Lives Model.
Benjamin’s professional background includes work within prisons, the construction sector, secondary and trade schools, sexual violence prevention organisations, domestic and family violence services and homelessness support services. His therapeutic approach focuses on helping people recognise what they are already doing that is working, and empowering them to build on these strengths to manage personal, professional or social challenges. His aim is to support people to gain the sense of control and agency over their lives that they want and deserve.
Outside of work, Ben enjoys spending time with his wife, dogs and friends as well as reading and exercise. Ben enjoys fantasy novels that spark imagination and big ideas, and unwinding with nature documentaries that remind him how vast and fascinating the world can be. He also enjoys tabletop games – especially Dungeons & Dragons – where storytelling, creativity and collaboration come together. Ben has trained in martial arts for over a decade, most recently Muay Thai, which he has trained, fought in, and taught. He loves travelling to unusual and memorable places and seeking out unique cultural experiences. At home, Ben is kept company by his two very lovable and slightly stubborn basset hounds, who bring plenty of personality to daily life. He is often found either eating or thinking about food!
