Sharna is a radically genuine person, a very experienced Psychologist, and isn’t afraid of having a good chuckle with her clients. She understands how hard it can be to reach out for professional help, particularly if you have previously experienced difficulties getting your emotional needs met in a safe and supported way in the past. For this reason, she works hard to ensure that the space is comfortable, and you walk away feeling heard.
Sharna works with adolescents and adults. She has over seven years’ experience working in forensic and private practice settings providing individual therapy, risk assessment and management, as well as group therapy work.
Sharna has a particular interest in work with complex trauma and eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia. She is also experienced working with difficulties such as: grief and loss, family conflict, relationship difficulties, addiction, depression, burnout, anxiety, OCD, all forms of disordered eating, and mood disorders.
Sharna has a warm, client-centred approach. She uses attachment-based therapies and third-wave Cognitive Behavioural Therapies, including Schema therapy and Metacognitive Therapy. She uses a psychodynamic therapeutic approach for people wanting to look into their history and get to the heart of their issues. She is a member of ANZAED, the leading agency in Australia and New Zealand for health professionals in the treatment of Eating Disorders.
In her spare time, Sharna likes to cook Italian food, read, and spend time in nature with her loved ones.
