Nahum Kozak

MEd BA(Psych)(Hons) MAPS

Nahum – his name rhymes with ‘Graham’ – assists adults, couples, and adolescents to find (or rediscover) joy and purpose, and productively bring these into their work and personal lives. Nahum has been a fully registered psychologist since 2010, holds a B.A. (in Psychology) Hons, M.Ed.(Educational Theory and Practice), and is currently finishing off a second Masters degree in Psychology.

Nahum has over 20 years of experience in private, educational, community and corporate settings. He was a School-based Psychologist for many years in the role of Senior School Counsellor and Head of Positive Education at John Paul College in Brisbane. He has also worked as a Counsellor and Relationship Educator (Centacare), a Corporate Coach, a researcher, and as a Youth Seminar Facilitator in various schools. Nahum has also provided professional supervision for many early-career counsellors and psychologists.

As a therapist, Nahum draws on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), interpersonal therapy (IPT), and emotion focussed therapy (you guessed it – EFT) and the Gottman Method.  Nahum works intuitively and intelligently to offer the techniques and strategies that will best help you.

Nahum enjoys helping individuals with anxiety, depression, relationship conflict, workplace issues, stress and burnout, anger management, addictive behaviours, sleep problems, and living with chronic conditions. He loves supporting couples and families. Whether he is working with individuals, couples, teams or organisations, his aim is to help people live happier, more connected lives. He has had his research on wellbeing, social connection, and sleep quality published in journals such as the International Journal of Social Psychiatry. He is an ongoing contributor to online wellbeing publications, including the Flourishing At School blog.

Nahum now successfully ‘juggles’ a professional portfolio that includes counselling, coaching, workplace mediation and speaking engagements, and a personal portfolio that includes being a father of two, a husband of one, weeding the veggie patch, and trying to jump as high as his kids on the family trampoline! Nahum has a very warm and friendly personality that will make you feel immediately at ease.
