Lachlan Murray

MPsych(Org) GradDipPsychAdv BA MAPS

Medicare registered Psychologist

Lachlan has a warm and gentle approach, putting his adult clients at ease with his friendly, curious and empathetic manner. He will accept you and not judge you.

Lachlan blends a variety of therapies to achieve the most appropriate approach for each client. He is undergoing training in psychodynamic psychotherapy, an approach which encourages the development of patient insight and comfort within one’s own skin. He can help clients with depression, anxiety, complex trauma, personality disorders, stress, low motivation, goal setting, self-esteem, panic attacks, and grief and loss.

He recently completed a Masters degree which included a thesis exploring the experiences of frontline social workers during the Covid-19 pandemic. His research has been published in academic circles.

Prior to working at North Brisbane Psychologists, Lachlan worked as a counsellor in employment services and an English-as-a-Second-Language teacher, having the great fortune to travel internationally and teach for a living. At one point, he taught in Budapest for two years where he considered settling down and never coming home! However, he is happy to be back in Brisbane.

In his free time, Lachlan enjoys reading, cycling, running, bushwalking, coffee, and music of all kinds. He is a student and lover of playing the piano, having “discovered” it in his late 20s.

Lachlan was drawn to Psychology because it empowers people to make informed choices about their mental health and to build a more meaningful life. He also loves being able to give people the opportunity to tell their story without fear of judgement. He also loves the never-ending discoveries that occur when two people sit in a room together and talk.
