Jess is a non-judgemental, empathetic Mental Health Social Worker with over ten years’ experience supporting people of all ages with mental health challenges and diagnoses, including acute psychiatry settings. Jess undertakes evidence-based practice and a client-centred approach to implement interventions that generate positive psychological change. Her interest and experience in psychological interventions for complex problems has led Jess to current study for a Masters of Mental Health majoring in psychotherapy.
Jess works with clients from age 14 and over experiencing a range of mental health concerns including depression, anxiety, stress, eating disorders, binge eating, body image problems, PTSD, psychosis, mood disorders, childhood trauma, adjustment disorders, and grief and loss. Jess draws from therapy modalities such as CBT, CBTe, CBTp, DBT and psychoanalysis. As a therapist, Jess focuses on establishing a therapeutic alliance to work collaboratively with clients to identify goals and associated tasks to actively work towards goals and generate positive changes.
Jess enjoys meeting people from unique and diverse backgrounds and undertaking a therapeutic journey to learn about the unique life experiences of the individual. This assists Jess to navigate from the client’s perspective and to make interpretations and articulate suggestions to develop therapeutic goals and tailor interventions to suit individual needs.
In her free time, Jess enjoys reading the monthly book for her book club, spoiling her toy poodle Yoda, spending quality time with her partner, drinking multiple coffees, and attending live gigs.
