Jake is a compassionate therapist who endeavours to make clients feel safe and heard. He enjoys working flexibly in therapy, applying structured interventions and client-focussed approaches according to your needs. He has a very warm personality and puts people at ease. Jake uses diverse skills to support a range of life difficulties, including grief and loss, trauma, ASD and ADHD, anxiety, depression, stress, body image concerns, addiction, and relationship/family difficulties. Jake is passionate about creating a safe haven as clients tackle their hardship, and empowering them to work through it.
Jake has an integrative approach to therapy guided by a client-centred philosophy. He uses skills from Compassion-Focussed Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), schema therapy, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Solution-Focussed Therapy (SFT). He draws on knowledge from multiple bodies of theory and science.
Jake completed his Master of Psychology (Counselling) at the University of Queensland, where he also completed his Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours). He is experienced in working with adolescents and adults.
Jake’s personal life is rife with pop-culture fandom and hobbies. He enjoys playing Tabletop Role-Playing Games (TTRPG’s) and board-games, and enthusing about all forms of fiction and media. He also enjoys hiking, music, and living a mindful lifestyle.
