As a person, Ingrid is optimistic, sensitive, empathic, and trustworthy. As a psychologist, she brings all these qualities and more to her work.
Ingrid’s work with clients over the past 15 years has taken place in various settings, including disability agencies, employment services, employee assistance services, the Lifeline Crisis Counselling service, and private practice. Ingrid is also a qualified Life Coach. She recognises that people are people everywhere and that life can be seriously hard sometimes.
Ingrid’s extensive experience using evidence-based approaches include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution Focused Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), Schema Therapy, Mindfulness Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Assertiveness Training, Anger Management, Positive Psychology, and Trauma-informed Therapy.
Ingrid enjoys helping people work through anxiety, stress and depression. She can help if you are going through grief and loss, relationship or sexual difficulties, vocational uncertainties, body image issues, and low self-esteem. Ingrid has Level 1 Training in the Gottman Method of Couples Therapy. She also sees clients wishing to overcome addiction, better manage chronic health or chronic pain issues, and people struggling with self-harm behaviours.
Additionally, Ingrid is skilled at working with parents. She’s an accredited Circle of Security (CoS) Parenting Training facilitator (a form of attachment-based therapy). Ingrid has a teenage son of her own, and knows full well the challenges of parenting.
Ingrid communicates hope to her clients. She knows people can change. She enjoys seeing people’s confidence grow. She works collaboratively with you to set goals. She is flexible and adapts psychological treatment styles and models to cater to your needs.
Ingrid maintains her own regular yoga and meditation practices to continue gaining insights into her own self. She also loves the great outdoors. Ingrid has a gentle temperament and will make you feel very safe, respected and at ease. She sees adolescents from 12 years old, as well as adults. Note: Ingrid works Mon & Tues evenings at Aspley, and Wed & Thurs at the Stafford Hts office.
