Dora is a Psychologist who utilises a strengths-based focus for her clients. She has experience working in clinical and counselling settings in the areas of private practice, research, vocational rehabilitation, employment services, and community services.
Dora has worked with people of diverse ages and backgrounds who are experiencing depression, anxiety, stress management, complex trauma and PTSD, grief and loss, adjustment issues, and vocational uncertainty. She has experience working with individuals and conducting seminars in workplaces on a variety of mental health topics.
To achieve high quality outcomes, Dora has a warm and compassionate approach and practises in the modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Schema Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, all of which aim to facilitate insight and help develop the client’s skills to manage psychological difficulties. She is also EMDR trained (eye movement desensitisation & reprocessing) to treat trauma.
Having lived in Europe for 10 years, Dora is multicultural sensitive and has a strong understanding of behavioural patterns across various groups and cultures. She is bi-lingual and speaks fluent Italian.
Before training as a psychologist, Dora worked in international development mainly non-government organisations (NGOs) in Uganda addressing humanitarian needs. She also served as a board member for a faith-based NGO organisation.
Dora takes great care in developing strong therapeutic relationships with her clients. She has a special interest in supporting adults, by helping them to make positive changes in order to reach their full potential.
In her spare time, Dora enjoys being with her family including grandchildren, watching French films, visiting art galleries, spending time with her friends over a nice Italian meal, listening to live music, and taking short courses such as wine appreciation.
